The law requires that all places of business have handicapped parking spaces.
I believe this law is quite frankly absurd. Today I was at the gym when I noticed seven empty handicapped spaces. As I walked in, I noticed the eighth space became vacant.
My gym does not have a pool. My gym has an abundance of cardio equipment an free weights.
So why would there be a need for handicapped spaces? Why would a handicapped person be going to the gym? If they are too incapacitated to walk an extra 10 feet then they are by far too incapable of using any gym equipment that is at my gym.
Handicap parking spaces: not necessary there.
No, it was not a handicapped person. It was an overweight female. It had then become a double strike against her. I have to sigh in my disappointment of today's society.
I believe that obese people should not have the liberty of using a handicapped placard. They park in a space next to the store and then hop on a motorized scooter. Obesity is not a handicap. It is a way of life. If a person chooses to do nothing but eat, watch TV and order takeout then they should not be awarded with a continuance of laziness.
I've been told on several occasions that if an overly obese person attempts to walk, they could easily break their ankles so they do not have the ability to exercise. Again, who is too blame for such an enormous amount of weight? If a person is truly that large, then maybe they should not be driving to Super Walmart to buy $100 of cigarettes, scratch tickets and fried chicken. Maybe they should be sitting on their couch throwing punches. Punches are great cardio with absolutely no impact. Exercise solved.
The woman at the gym was not so obsese to the point of broken ankles. Kankles, yes. Broken ankles, no. She lit up a cigarette, opened a bag of Doritos and drove away. That extra 10 feet would have not killed her. It might actually save her.
So to sum it all up: handicap spcaes are not needed everywhere and obesity is not a handicap.

Welcome
People always say honesty is the best policy. In response, I say that the truth hurts. And I always tell the truth no matter who it may hurt or offend in the process.
And who am I you may ask? You may call me Elisa. Elisa the Elitist. I am a self-proclaimed elitist. An of course, I have every right to be. I was that girl in high school who was friends with everyone, had the hottest boyfriends, was invited to every party and was the smartest person in the class. Actually, who said that's changed?
Although it's been years since I've been in high school, I'm still relatively vain. Vain in the sense that my blog will more than likely offend everyone reading it at one point in time. I'm sure you'll agree with me on many issues but then, out of the blue, there will be that one post that just irritates and angers you. But if it's the truth, then maybe you should face it.
